The largest member of the weasel family, the sea otter is also the 2nd smallest marine mammal. Once numbering several hundred thousand to possibly over a million worldwide, their population is now estimated to be between 82,350 and 95,000.

Great news for sea otters!

A bill recently floated by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) aims to help turn the tide for California’s declining population of sea otters.

California Tax Filers: Sea Otter Fund Will Remain on Forms in 2010!

The California Sea Otter Fund received almost $295,000 from generous California taxpayers for 2008, which kept it on the form in 2009! We just were informed on September 1st by the California Franchise Tax Board that the Fund received just under $223,000 through the middle of August and they estimate it will reach the target by the end of the calendar year.
