Embattled Borderlands

Defenders of Wildlife opposes the construction of a wall along our southern border with Mexico as it would divide families and bisect natural habitat relied upon by vulnerable borderland species such as jaguars, Mexican gray wolves and ocelots. Writer Krista Schyler and Esri—the global market leader in GIS mapping for positive change—recently published a new story map titled, “Embattled Borderlands: Will the border wall strike a fatal blow to one of the most imperiled wild regions in North America?” We are pleased to share this comprehensive look at how the proposed border wall will alter the landscape that hundreds of rare species rely on for survival.
