Obama administration right to reject Keystone Pipeline permit

WASHINGTON (January 18, 2012) - The following is a statement from Jamie Rappaport Clark, president and CEO of Defenders of Wildlife:

“The Obama administration has consistently said that science should rule the day in environmental decision-making. Today, it took a stand consistent with this commitment.

“The Keystone Pipeline could seriously affect the health of the water, lands and wildlife in its path and the Obama administration was right to reject it because Congress did not provide adequate time to fully review these impacts.  Instead of continuing to kowtow to Big Oil, we should be weaning ourselves off the dirty fossil fuels of the last century and leading the global charge toward clean energy solutions for our country.”
