Defenders of Wildlife is a national, non-profit membership organization dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities.

At Defenders of Wildlife, we focus our programs on what scientists consider two of the most serious environmental threats to the planet: the accelerating rate of extinction of species and the associated loss of biological diversity, and habitat alteration and destruction.

We work to protect and restore America’s native wildlife, safeguard habitat, resolve conflicts, work across international borders and educate and mobilize the public. We stand out in our commitment to saving imperiled wildlife and championing the Endangered Species Act, the landmark law that protects them.

Our employees and Board of Directors are our greatest assets and we care about their welfare and professional growth. We value the unique perspectives and backgrounds of our employees, and work to expand the diversity of our workforce and to be inclusive in our approach. We recognize that ‘diversity’ is often used to refer to our differences in race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, and family/parental status. We believe that we are also diverse in our characteristics and experiences. Defenders welcomes and celebrates all differences including differences of thought and opinion. We recognize that conservation of biological diversity is best advanced by the contributions of people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, beliefs and cultures. In our efforts to be inclusive and to expand diversity, we strive to provide additional support to people that might experience additional and unfair barriers as the result of difference.

Defenders seeks talented individuals dedicated to the conservation of our nation's wildlife and natural resources, and we offer our staff competitive salary and exceptional benefits. Defenders of Wildlife is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
