Gold Creek Habitat Restoration in Washington
Our Wildlife Volunteer Corps in Washington planted trees and removed invasive plants to prepare a proposed wildlife underpass site in the northern Cascades.
With increased pressure to develop the area for human use, efforts to maintain and improve habitat for the elk, mountain goats, deer and threatened spotted owls that live there become increasingly important.
Our activists and members heeded the call and gathered on a blustery Saturday morning to remove invasive plants and plant cedar and pine trees in their place. 15 Defenders volunteers (and one dog!) worked together to plant more than 100 trees!
