Prairie Dog Habitat Expanded

Prairie Dogs, © Michelle ThomasWorking in Montana's American Prairie Reserve our staff took part in a large-scale project to allow prairie dogs - the original ecosystem engineers of this landscape - to continue to thrive and expand on the reserve. From clearing unwanted vegetation, to installing protective nest boxes, to taking precautions against plague, the team expanded and protected more than 400 acres of prime prairie dog habitat, including thousands of burrows.
