William Lutz
Media relations contact for: Alaska, Aerial Hunting
William Lutz serves as Defenders of Wildlife’s Director of Communications where he oversees all aspects of our media relations activities and supervises all media relations personnel. He is also point person for all communications activities related to Alaska, including aerial gunning and predator control programs. Mr. Lutz also serves as the Senior Director of the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund where he oversees the Action Fund’s programmatic and electoral work. He is responsible for the development and implementation of all legislative and candidate-related campaign strategies as well as the day-to-day administrative oversight of the Action Fund.
Mr. Lutz has been in the field of public and media relations for more than 16 years. His work has mainly focused on progressive causes, such as legal aid for the poor, women’s reproductive rights, the uninsured, and the environment. He has also worked for several private polling and public relations firms, and was a freelance media consultant for several years prior to joining Defenders.
Mr. Lutz was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of the George Washington University.
