Responding to Encounters with Wildlife

Unless they are sick, protecting their young or used to being fed by humans, carnivores rarely approach or attack people. Should an encounter turn too close for comfort, however, follow these safety tips:

It is important to report any incident immediately to the appropriate state or federal wildlife authority. Other people can avoid encounters with dangerous wildlife, if the authorities are aware of an aggressive animal.
