Mohave Ground Squirrel: Management and Policy
The Mojave ground squirrel is threatened by loss of habitat and degradation of habitat. Defenders has petitioned the Federal government to list the Mohave ground squirrel as endangered. We are also working with partners to develop a rangewide conservation strategy to ensure their future.
In response to our Federal listing petition, land managers in the Desert Managers Group are developing a rangewide comprehensive conservation strategy for the Mohave ground squirrel. Defenders is the only non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been invited to participate in this process.
