Grizzly Bears: In the Field
The best way to recover grizzly bears in the lower 48 is to prevent the conflicts that cause them to die. Defenders has had a great deal of success working with private landowners, states, tribes, federal agencies to cost-share on tangible projects to prevent bears from coming into conflicts with humans. Projects include: building electric fences to protect sheep and cattle, buying bear-resistant dumpsters for communities and retiring grazing allotments with chronic problems.
