Ecotourism and Biodiversity Conservation

Defenders explores and promotes the application of market-based incentives for biodiversity conservation by encouraging ecotourism focused on endangered species and other wildlife.

Projects

Eco-tourism ventures are implemented throughout the United States and internationally as a means of encouraging biodiversity conservation and economic development. Defenders is actively assisting rural communities in North Carolina to develop red wolf eco-tourism and to realize the economic benefits of conserving this rare canid.
