Federal Incentives for Private Land Conservation

The federal government offers a number of different incentive programs to encourage private landowners to participate in conservation activities on their property. Private lands are a critical component of conserving biodiversity across the landscape. Incentive programs for habitat conservation on private lands fall into one or more of these categories: property tax benefits, income tax credits, regulatory streamlining, direct funding, and technical assistance.
