Wildlife Funding Priorities

Defenders is working to increase funding for high priority programs that conserve wildlife and habitat including funding for our National Wildlife Refuges, wildlife conservation on our other public lands, endangered species conservation and other important Fish and Wildlife Service programs, and land acquisition.

Green Jobs Restoring the Land and Helping Wildlife

As leaders in Washington look at an economic stimulus package, Defenders of Wildlife is making the case for smart investments in projects that will put Americans to work helping imperiled wildlife and restoring public lands.

Investing in America’s conservation infrastructure could put nearly 60,000 people to work within 90-180 days and help…

  • Keep local construction, electrical, landscape and other companies working throughout 2009;
  • Provide the next generation of workers with the skills they need to lead a green revolution in our economy; and
  • Support vital efforts to safeguard river otters, other imperiled wildlife, habitat and our national wildlife refuges, forests, monuments and other public lands.
