Buy a Federal Migratory Bird Stamp

2007 Migratory Bird StampAs one of the most important citizen conservation tools for over 70 years, sales of Federal Migratory Bird Stamps (also known as Duck Stamps) have directly protected over 5.2 million acres of valuable wetlands in the U.S.  That’s an area almost as large as the state of Massachusetts!

Ninety-eight cents out of every dollar generated by the sale of Federal Migratory Bird Stamps goes directly to purchase or lease wetland habitat for protection in the National Wildlife Refuge System. And as the only public lands in the world dedicated specifically to protecting wildlife, it is easy to see why every citizen that cares about American wildlife should purchase a Federal Migratory Bird Stamp.

Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps, also known as Duck Stamps, are produced by the U.S. Postal Service, though they are not valid for postage.

Original 1934 Migratory Bird StampThey were originally created in 1934 as part of the licensing requirements for hunting migratory waterfowl.  Migratory Bird Stamps are still required for hunting waterfowl, but they are also a vital tool for wetlands conservation, which benefits not only ducks, but also water quality and countless other plant and wildlife species.
