CONTRIBUTORS

This web section is a product of a Conservation Network Design workshop that Defenders of Wildlife hosted in spring 2003. Click here to view a list of workshop participants who contributed to the concepts of the web section in varying capacities.

SOFTWARE AND DATA SOURCES

California Digital Conservation Atlas (An online tool that includes data from a variety of local, state, and national sources, and allows users to mix and match those layers of information at different scales for creating custom maps in California.)

Community Viz Decision Support Software (Useful at local scales.)

Long-Term Hydrologic Impact Assessment (L-THIA) (A tool to assess the water quality impacts of land use change. It assists in the evaluation of potential effects of land use change and to identify the best location of a particular land use so as to have minimum impact on a community's natural environment. Useful at the local scale.)

Natureserve's Accessing Biodiversity Information page

NatureServe's Decision-Support System Software
(aids with integrating biodiversity information into land use planning at regional-to-local scales)

Sites
(A customized ArcView software tool that facilitates design and analysis of conservation networks. The Nature Conservancy has used Sites in the development of some their ecoregional plans. Useful at broad scales.)
