Defenders of Wildlife's Northwest office has a reputation for being creative in its approach to conserving biodiversity and habitat. Working with many partners, we develop new conservation tools and promote cooperation among diverse interests in both the Pacific Northwest and nationally.

What Defenders Is Doing to Protect Habitat and Biodiversity in the Northwest

  • Developing ecosystem marketplaces to conserve fish and wildlife habitat, improve water quality and provide other environmental benefits
  • Managing the Conservation Registry, an easy-to-use online mapping tool and database that displays 100,000 conservation projects across all 50 states
  • Highlighting projects where ecosystem services have been quantified or offered for sale through the Marketplace for Nature portal in the Conservation Registry
