EarthShell Corporation Recognized by Defenders of Wildlife
"EarthShell Corporation has developed a very impressive biodegradable material," said Rodger Schlickeisen, President and CEO of Defenders of Wildlife. "EarthShell Packaging helps to preserve the environment for future generations of wildlife and humans alike. We are pleased to work with EarthShell to promote environmental awareness and the protection of the beauty of our great nation."
The conservation organization publicly applauds EarthShell Corporation for the development of EarthShell Packaging, which is made primarily from natural ingredients, reduces hazards to the environment and is safe for marine and wildlife.
"To be working with such an esteemed organization that is dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and the environment is an honor," said Simon K. Hodson, President and CEO of EarthShell Corporation. "Defenders of Wildlife is a key leader in the environmental community. We value their recognition of our new packaging, and we welcome the opportunity to work together."
EarthShell Packaging is designed with the environment in mind. It is made from a new-to-the-world composite material consisting primarily of abundant limestone and renewable starch. It uses less total energy and results in lower greenhouse gas emissions when compared to traditional rigid packaging. EarthShell Packaging is strong and provides good insulation. It biodegrades in marine and composting environments, and is recyclable through composting.
EarthShell Corporation is engaged in the licensing and commercialization of proprietary composite material technology for the manufacture of disposable foodservice packaging, such as cups, plates, bowls, hinged-lid containers, and sandwich wraps. EarthShell Packaging is designed to be cost and performance competitive compared to other foodservice packaging materials, and also to provide important environmental advantages.
Defenders of Wildlife is a national non-profit organization working to save wildlife and habitat and defend environmental safeguards. Established in 1947, Defenders has nearly one million supporters across the country. Best known for its success in restoring wolves to Yellowstone National Park, its programs include efforts to save the dolphins, whales, manatees, bears and songbirds.
