Defenders of Wildlife Opens California Office
"This is an extremely exciting time to intensify our work in California. Across the state, an unimaginable wealth of biological diversity comes in contact with incredible development pressure. This state is in many ways at the forefront of the fight to preserve species and their habitats, perhaps because there is so much here that is worth going the extra mile to protect," said Rodger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife.
Defenders of Wildlife is a leading nonprofit conservation organization recognized as one of the nation’s most progressive advocates for wildlife and its habitat, and has led efforts for wolf restoration in the lower 48 states for more than 30 years. With more than 430,000 members and supporters, Defenders of Wildlife is an effective leader on endangered species issues.
"Californians understand how lucky we are to live in the midst of such an ecologically rich place," said Kim Delfino, director of California programs for Defenders of Wildlife. "With nearly 100,000 members in the state, Defenders of Wildlife can contribute an incredible amount to finding constructive solutions to some of our thorniest environmental dilemmas."
