Washington, D.C. (November 7, 2013)–– President Obama has named a new assistant secretary for Land and Minerals Management.  Below is a statement from Defenders of Wildlife president and CEO Jamie Rappaport Clark:

“I am extremely excited at the prospect of Janice Schneider joining the team at the Department of the Interior. Virtually her entire career has been devoted to the conservation of our natural resources and I am confident she will bring that same devotion as the assistant secretary for Land and Mineral Management. And having worked with her as director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, I can personally attest to her professionalism and ability to get things done. The president made an excellent choice in tapping Janice Schneider for this key conservation position.”
