The Albuquerque hearing saw a great turnout, and the majority of those who testified were in favor of keeping protections for gray wolves, and taking more steps to ensure the recovery of Mexican gray wolves. Read more on our blog >
Even though the original public hearing was postponed due to the federal government shutdown, about 300 people turned out to our training event in Albuquerque on October 4th. Wolf supporters arrived from as far as Utah, Colorado and New York, and comments were collected during a “Citizen’s Hearing” to urge FWS to come up with a stronger plan to protect Mexican gray wolves. The event was sponsored by Defenders and our partner groups working on Mexican wolf recovery in the Southwest.
