Energy Policy and Public Land and Water Protection
Energy policy is fundamental to wildlife threats from climate change and unsound development proposals that would threaten our federal lands and waters.
Some energy issues include: ensuring that renewable energy resources are a substantial part of our energy future and are pursued in an environmentally sustainable way; protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from Big Oil and safeguarding our coasts from offshore drilling prospects.
Defenders of Wildlife supports environmentally sound, smart, and wildlife friendly energy policies. We are working to defend our public lands and waters against dirty and damaging oil extraction, including opposing efforts to authorize drilling in the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and currently protected coastal waters of the outer continental shelf.
