This professional-level position is responsible for conducting outreach and education to diverse communities, and assisting with wildlife conservation and climate change policy for the California Program of Defenders of Wildlife.
The internship is an opportunity for an advanced college, graduate, or post-graduate student to work with CCI and other Defenders staff.
The communications associate is responsible for helping to plan and implement a wide variety of media activities to gain coverage for Defenders of Wildlife and the issues on which Defenders works.
The Director of Media Relations is responsible for developing both proactive and reactive communications campaigns and strategies to inform targeted audiences and the public about Defenders of Wildlife and its conservation policies, and to build support for Defenders’ conservation positions with the public, decision makers and elected officials, both nationally and locally.
This position is designed to provide a wide range of legal experience relating to conservation issues of national significance, encompassing both litigation and policy advocacy on issues ranging from terrestrial and marine species conservation to federal lands management.
This position requires working knowledge of federal environmental and natural resources law and significant litigation experience.
