Revenue Processing Assistant

Location: Headquarters, Washington, DC 
Supervisor: Fundraising Operations Manager

BASIC SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Revenue Processing Assistant is to support Defenders revenue processing streams in a timely and accurate manner. Responsibilities include routine processing and tracking of in-house gifts, coordination of gift batching and depositing with Finance department and providing back-up support to mail-room operations as they relate to check processing.  The Assistant will also be responsible for in-house gift and other data entry and act as liaison to our caging vendor and Integrated Marketing and Online Communication department for special gifts. The Assistant will work to streamline and continually improve processes and documentation related to his/her duties. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Routine processing of in-house checks for deposit, wire and stock donations.

  • Oversee quality control for source codes to ensure codes comply with Defenders business rules.

  • Daily data entry in Defenders’ membership database of record.

  • Assist Fundraising Operations Manager in reconciliation of revenue data from multichannel platforms.

  • Assist with QC and upload of daily revenue data files to CRM.

  • Create, QC and/or update revenue summary reports to internal stakeholders.

  • Assist Fundraising Operations Manager in monthly and yearly financial reconciliation and fiscal closing processes.

  • Assist and serve as back-up capacity to mail room staff to ensure appropriate routing of in-house revenue documents at DOW Headquarters.

  • Provide interdepartmental support for revenue data consistency via data QC, campaign analysis, operational benchmarking, etc.

  • Serve as liaison to Member Services department for revenue related tasks including, but not limited to, refund request reconciliation, caging research, fulfillment and troubleshooting of payment processing.

  • Perform all other work related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s (B.A./B.S.) degree or equivalent in related discipline  

  • Experience: 2-3+ years of relational database experience with an understanding of both off-line and on-line systems.  2+ years of financial data processing experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Database administrative experience (SQL) a plus, but not necessary.

  • Advanced computer skills, exposure to coding languages a plus

  • Ability to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks and assignments relating to administrative and licensing/cause-related/marketing functions

  • Strong MS Office knowledge and experience
