Legal Internships

This professional-level position is responsible for implementing assigned work plans for the California Program of Defenders of Wildlife. The primary responsibilities include implementation of programs, strategies, campaigns, and projects focusing on strategic plan priorities in California.
The Communications Intern will assist with the creation of copy for the blog, video production, graphic design and photo management.
Defenders of Wildlife seeks a data specialist to improve the effectiveness of U.S. endangered species conservation by analyzing large and complex datasets relating to endangered species, and communicating the results through reports, interactive online maps and charts, infographics, and other novel and creative media.
The Director of the Southeast Program is responsible for opening and overseeing a new office in and expanding Defenders of Wildlife’s presence in the Southeastern United States. The new office will be located in one of the following locations: Atlanta, Georgia; Asheville, North Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; or Knoxville, Tennessee.
Defenders of Wildlife, founded in 1947, is a national, nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities. We seek a volunteer intern with a background in computer science and an interest in conservation to help us develop a web application that enables users to identify possible non-compliance with the Endangered Species Act and monitor the conditions of endangered species habitat.
The Accountant will serve as support for all Finance areas, with a focus on grants accounting, revenue recording, financial compliance, and general ledger reconciliations.
Defenders’ publications division is offering a summer volunteer internship to a graphic design student with a commitment to Defenders’ organizational priorities.
Under supervision of Director of Publications create graphic designs, choose and procure photos, assist with proofing and revisions, oversee pre-press process, and work with printers and other vendors to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of Defenders’ publications for print and online, including Defenders, our full-color, quarterly membership publication, and our annual report.
The Marketing Intern will assist in the creation and promotion of content across various marketing channels, including website, social media, blog and more.
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and provides assistance both administratively and programmatically. S/he serves as the COO liaison to staff and performs a wide variety of responsibilities as assigned.
