BASIC SUMMARY:

The Online Campaigns Associate plays a vital role in supporting the digital team’s grassroots and advocacy efforts on a local scale. The Online Campaigns Associate will also play a primary role in running the adoption center.  This position will oversee the implementation of online campaigns strategy for local/state/regional emails and for the adoption center ecommerce program.  This includes copy sourcing, intake, routing and production process of all local and adoption center emails as well as acting as a liaison between regional and program staff, the digital team, the copy writers and the production team. The Online Campaigns Associate will also play a primary role in running the adoption center, will act as the ecommerce website lead, the lead on adoption emails, merchandise, and fulfillment and be the primary liaison with operations in this process. The person in this position will lead efforts to integrate the blog and social media with the email and text message programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Leads online efforts with a state, local or regional focus, acting as principal online liaison with regional field and outreach staff as well as ESA campaign and Volunteer Corps emails, including:

    • Developing online plans for local, state and regional organizing efforts that articulate strategy, tactics and objectives with measurable outcomes;

    • Coordinating the schedule for state, local and regional alerts;

    • Being the liaison between the state and local staff  and ensuring all request forms  are filled out in a comprehensive and complete manner;

    • Working with the Director of Digital Marketing to prioritize various requests;

    • Works with copywriters to ensure copy development and all campaign elements are in line with campaign strategy and program needs.

    • Edits and circulates copy for approval;

    • Prepares each alert for production and works with production staff to get the email sent out in a timely manner.

    • Reviews messages for errors and appropriate flow and user experience

    • Works with Director of Digital Marketing to develop testing strategy

    • Ensures effective implementation of testing strategy, reports on testing outcomes  for continual program improvement

    • Monitors email delivery and tracks campaign performance

    • Makes recommendations for improvements and to grow the effectiveness of the program

  • Partners to manage Defenders’ Wildlife Adoption Center:

    • Works with Director of Digital Marketing to develop testing strategy

    • Ensures effective implementation of testing strategy, reports on testing outcomes for continual program improvement

    • Monitors email delivery and tracks campaign performance

    • Makes recommendations for improvements and to grow the effectiveness of the program

    • Identifies appropriate seasonal, issue- and event-based opportunities to promote Adoption Center giving

    • Makes recommendations for email campaigns, integrated website and ecommerce promotions for Adoption Center offers including what to promote, discounts and special offers, and other campaign specifics

    • Works with other Digital and Operations staff and Defenders’ vendor-partners to source and manage campagin creation

    • Reviews messages for errors and appropriate flow and user experience

    • Works with Operations staff and vendors to manage inventory, shipping schedules and fulfillment.

  • Liaison with Social Media and Blog Manager to coordinate campaign efforts, including content, timing, and optimization:

    • Attends all blog related meetings to keep up on all of the current issues that are going up on the blog or being discussed as potential blog ideas.

    • Works with the Social Media and Blog manager to strategize new ways of integrating social media into email campaigns

    • Relays information regarding topics and timing for all local and national email campaigns to see where efforts can best be integrated.

  • Serve as the point of contact for all corporate partner email campaign promotion efforts:

    • Works with the Digital of Direct Marketing to develop marketing strategies on how to best cross promote each other.

    • Works with the rest of the digital team to find the appropriate time and place on the calendar to send out emails promoting corporate partnerships

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in related discipline

  • Experience:  2+ years of experience working on e-campaigns and/or e-newsletters

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Other:

  • Experience working with fundraising and marketing e-campaigns

  • Political savvy for how to effectively conduct e-campaigns and influence political leaders

  • Outstanding e-mail editing skills for diverse audiences and with diverse goals

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Basic Web design skills (HTML and Photoshop)

  • General tech savvy

  • Experience with e-CRM (e-Constituent Relationship Management) software platforms and CMS (Content Management System) software platforms

  • Knowledge of general conservation/environmental issues

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer and communicate with others while doing so.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
