All four species of fish are considered endangered under the Endangered Species Act, meaning they are in danger of extinction within the foreseeable future throughout all or a significant portion of their range.
After being initially determined to be endangered in 1967, both the humpback chub and Colorado pikeminnow were listed in 1973. The bonytail was listed in 1980, and the razorback sucker in 1991.
IUCN Red List: The bonytail and razorback sucker are both listed as endangered. The pikeminnow and humpback chub are both listed as vulnerable.
