Our headquarters is made up of approximately 100 staffers, including wildlife biologists, communications experts, advocates and organizers, economists and attorneys.
The Washington office is the home base for the divisions of conservation litigation, land conservation, the division of science and conservation economics, field conservation, international, communications and publications and government relations as well as our membership, finance and on-line marketing divisions.
Defenders' national headquarters has been growing and evolving rapidly for the past several years. So much so that our organization has moved up from renting a suite to owning our own nine-story office building in the heart of Washington, D.C.
Our headquarters has undergone renovations to be environmentally friendly and efficient. In fact, our engineers are currently in the process of replacing inefficient heating and cooling systems, and there are on-going discussions as how to become even “greener,” including the addition of a green roof complete with solar panels.
We are proud of our commitment to being environmentally conscious at all times, and we hope that our endeavors to keep our office green serves as an example to our colleagues, members and visitors.
