William Lutz
Senior Director, Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

William Lutz serves as the Senior Director of the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund where he oversees all aspects of the Action Fund’s programmatic and electoral work. He is responsible for the development and implementation of all legislative and candidate-related campaign strategies as well as the day-to-day maintenance of all the Action fund’s internal administrative systems. As Senior Communications Specialist for Defenders of Wildlife, Mr. Lutz serves as the manager of key communications projects focused on the State of Alaska, including the aerial killing of wolves, beluga whale conservation and other issues.
Mr. Lutz has been in the field of public and media relations for than 12 years. His work has mainly focused on progressive causes, such as legal aid for the poor, women’s reproductive rights, the uninsured, and the environment. He has worked for several private polling and public relations firms, and was a freelance media consultant for several years as well. In his work with NARAL Pro-choice America, Mr. Lutz participated in numerous political campaigns across the country and played a similar role for the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund before officially assuming his Senior Director duties in March of 2007.
Mr. Lutz was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of the George Washington University.
