Timm Kroeger
Natural Resources and Environmental Economist
Areas of Expertise: Conservation economics
Timm’s work focuses on the application of economic methodologies for valuing the full range of benefits generated by environmental and natural resources, the incorporation of these values into cost-benefit analyses of public policies, and the potential of economic incentive mechanisms to achieve the conservation of ecosystem services.
Before joining Defenders of Wildlife in 2003, Timm worked for two years in Peru as a consultant for the Pan-American Health Organization’s (PAHO) Center for Sanitary Engineering and Environment, the Peruvian National Environment Council (CONAM), and the Swiss development agency (Swisscontact).
Timm holds an MA in Economics from the University of Würzburg in his native Germany, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry of the State University of New York in Syracuse. He has authored a number of reports and book chapters and has published in the journals BioScience, Ecological Economics, Energy Policy, Environmental Science and Policy, Human Dimensions of Wildlife, and the Indian Journal of Applied Economics.
