Brianne Smith
Federal Lands Associate
Areas of Expertise: Federal land management law and policy, with a specific focus on National Forest and Bureau of Land Management issues; climate change and National Forests; biofuels and National Forests
Brianne Smith works as a Federal Lands Associate, focusing on an array of land and wildlife conservation issues affecting National Forests and Bureau of Land Management districts. She is currently working on Defenders’ efforts to promote the integration of climate change impacts into federal land management planning, as well as Defenders’ efforts to promote federal land management planning that supports viable wildlife populations.
Prior to joining Defenders, Brianne practiced environmental and natural resource law for three years in New Jersey.
Brianne graduated with a B.A. in Biology, with minors in Environmental Studies and Economics from Drew University. She also earned a J.D. and Environmental Law Certificate from Pace University Law School. Brianne is currently working on a M.A. in Public Policy, with a concentration on Environmental & Resource Policy, at George Washington University.
