Temporary Alaska Assistant
Location: Anchorage, AKSupervisor: Director, Alaska Program
Position Description
This part-time (~20 hours/week) assistant position provides general administrative support to the Alaska field office staff on a wide range of wildlife conservation programs and issues, including wolf and bear conservation. Primary responsibilities include office administration duties; organizing outreach events; general data and file management; editing written materials; and conducting various conservation and legislative research.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support to Alaska field office staff
- Disseminate information to the public on our programs, by responding to general telephone inquiries, responding to correspondence from Defenders’ members and the general public, and distributing factsheets
- Mobilize activists and help organize grassroots advocacy efforts
- Conduct research and compile information for use in ongoing Alaska Field Conservation Program projects
- Work with the public and other office volunteers and staff members
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s (B.A./B.S.) degree or equivalent in related discipline preferredExperience: 1+ years of experience in the field of conservation policy is desirable but not required; demonstrated proficiency in office skills mandatory
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

- Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communications skills
- Ability to conduct research and produce quality work products in a consistent, efficient, and timely manner
